how do you copy and paste a number in iOS 11 from notes to safari
When I copy a number string iOS 11.0.1 thinks it’s a telephone number and won’t copy it. Any ideas?

The problem is that it pasts “tel:” before the number and some fields get upset and go to error. With iOS 10 it just coppied the number. That’s hat I need for some long number entries. Thanks for the help.
I was really annoyed of not being able to copy certain text portions from the Notes App, because it thinks it is a number and marks it in yellow type. Long press onto the number lets it just float in the foreground without any use.
But I just found out, if I tap into the note item first (editing mode), the yellowing and underlining of the text is removed and the number can be copied just like any other text. iPhone X here with iOS 11.2.5
Looks like I’ll have to go to a previous back up for iOS 10 and do it myself. I can’t believe that apple consider having a (tel:) prefix to every number you want to copy and paste is proactive progress as it’s a blatantly mind-numbingly dumb thing.
My own temporary fix to this problem is to make a new contact in contacts and save the string of numbers in the first name box. From there you can then copy and paste the number without iOS thinking it’s a flaming phone number hoorah!
I have a 6plus running iOS 11.2.5 and this is what works for me, but it can take several tries to get the timing between taps right:
Double tap the number, but hold (don’t lift finger) on the second tap. After a second, the regular inline text non-phone copy option pops up.
I agree this is ridiculous. I need to copy amd paste phone nunbers all the time for work and not save them in my contacts. Such a simple task to copy and paste a number and yet cutting edge iPhone cant manage it. I just switched back to iPhone x from a S7 and the galaxy has a clipboard that you can save loads of copy and pastes on. Missing it already and only had iPhone for 1 day.
Does not work for me - at least when I'm trying to pick a number on textmessages.
Always the freaking phone number in two different way, usually in top of each other.
I try to pick an IBAN number like F14 1234 1234 1234 12.
-If I tap "F14" it tries to check the flight F14.
-If "1234 1234 1234 12" it offers phone number stuff.
So even if the tap thing would work (what it doesn't) I cant' pick the whole thing or what I want. In fact I cannot copy anything with textmessages but I can add some stupid thumbs or ha ha's on it. I think this last great invention comes with newest update 11.2.6 and broke the last copying options on textmessages. Notes works like it should be.
Thank you Apple for selling me a top end 1400 € phone that cannot handle a simple copy/paste tasks.
I think this might be my last iPhone.
One more idea. When I long press on a linked number, I now see a “Copy Phone Number” menu option that I don’t recall having before. This seems to do a basic copy of the text and when I paste it, the text does not seem to get reformatted. Worth one last try maybe.
Brenden the issue that was posted is that we DONT want iPhone to pick up the number as a phone number. Your post didn't help at all. It just affirmed what LouK44 posted.
+1
Please fix the problem...its insane that iphone cant just freakin copy a number....just a copy option ...no copy phone number ...just the copy option....please ...:(((((
Brendan, that answer did not help at all... any sequence of numbers, when not a telephone number and subsequently too long, is corrupted or truncated when an attempt is made to paste
question posted in September... it’s now December! ***?
Is this issue fixed yet? Also if you copy an email address it puts “malito:” in front of it. It’s now been 6 months maybe more and it’s not fixed.
Dear Apple,
will it be fixed this year (2018) ?
Happy New Year copy and paste problem!
