How do I get the most recently added emojis on my macbook? I have the newest emojis on my iPhone but not my macbook. How do I update to get the new emojis?

I have the newest emojis on my iPhone but not my macbook. However my macbook which is updated does not have the new emojis on the emoji keyboard. If someone sends a new emoji and I read the iMessage on my macbook I do not see them. They come up as squares with ? in them. How do I update to get the new emojis?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi,

Like the iOS of iPads and iPhones the Mac OS updates the Emojis on computers.

Whether your computer can be updated to a later version of the OS would depend when it was released.

My mid 2011 iMac does Lion through to High Sierra.

I have an Original MacBook Pro that only does 3 versions of the Mac OS ending at Snow Leopard (It cannot get to Lion)
