If i buy an apple watch 3 GPS+LTE in Japan, will it work in Australia?

Will it have all the same features, connect to the network etc? I’m with Telstra, if that matters.

Hi

I suggest that you check with your carrier.

Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) is not locked to any specific carrier and has a built-in eSIM that copies information from the iPhone's SIM card.

The built-in cellular features require a carrier plan in the country of use that specifically includes support for Apple Watch.

If buying Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) in another country, then you would need to buy a model that supports the relevant LTE and UMTS bands for your country and supported carrier.

There are three different regional versions of Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular), each supporting different LTE and UMTS bands, as detailed here:

Hi geekofoz,

I had same question as you about Apple Watch 3 Cellular, and found little advice as to whether a Japanese Apple Cellular Watch(A1891) would work in UK or not. Apple store Nagoya advised me not to buy as they had stated that they had heard of problems, but after reading an article on iMore website I decided to buy. Having just got back to UK the watch connected to our one and only supplier "EE" without any issues and works without iPhone being present on EE's Cellular network.

As said above the LTE/G4 chips are not supporting roaming nor are they being offered unlocked.

A Japanese model can currently only be paired with a Japanese mobile carrier iPhones number and account and the LTE/G4 will only function in Japan. ditto regionally a UK in the UK a Canadian model in Canada etc.

That said they will function just just as the previous models paired to your iPhone via Bluetooth/WiFi

If i buy an apple watch 3 GPS+LTE in Japan, will it work in Australia?
