iPhone 6 very slow with IOS 11 update

After receiving IOS 11.01.1 on my MGCT2LL/A1522 (iPhone 6), my phone is super slow. Apps hang, then close (like the Starbucks app), my purchased music would just stop in the middle of a song, then I had to close the app and re-open.

In general, everything is very slow to respond, and I have rebooted twice.

Any suggestions

HERE'S THE FIX: Go into Settings> General> Reset> Reset All Settings (this will reset iOS settings, won't touch your apps)

WHAT THIS DOES: This will *not* erase your phone, but will reset most of the things you can adjust in settings on iOS (you'll need to re-enter you wifi, adjust notifications and privacy settings again, reset your default account for Calendar and Notes, etc, but all your email accounts and iCloud account will still be logged in and all working).

FIXES THIS ISSUE: I had the same issue: iPhone 6S. Upgraded. Even with 25GB free, I'd press a button and often have to wait 1-3 seconds for a response, or copy and paste selectors would be really slow to appear, even the keyboard was unresponsive... phone was barely unusable, literally. I think most people don't get it because most who updated to iOS 11 noticed it being a little slower but not 90% slower. Those like us need to take this step.

BACKGROUND: When I was scouring I found that erasing your phone and restoring from backup worked for people on Reddit, and that should be reliable. I was in the process of doing that myself and accidentally chose "reset all settings" instead of "erase all content and settings". My phone rebooted and all my apps are fine, just needed to go through iOS settings and readjust things.

ALTERNATIVES: This is obviously better than either (a) downgrading to iOS 10 or (b) making sure your phone (as it is now on iOS11) is backed up to iCloud, erasing it, and restoring from that backup.

The difference in speed is shocking.

Pretty sure this will work for you too.

Have you looked at a Macbook recently? ONE port to rule them all...

On the Book, that makes sense. A major part of its portability is size and weight. I have a six-year old MBP that I'm using now. As I'm typing this message, I'm glancing at all the connectors that I've never used but they take up space and contribute to cost. If I'm going to use something other than the latest and greatest (currently Thunderbolt/USB-C), an adapter cable is fine.

Actually, only the regular MacBook has a single port. The Air and the Pro have multiple ports but none have as many as mine and none have the variety that mine has.

While I do agree Apple designs under steve jobs were truly groundbreaking to say the least, under Tim Cook and Ivey they pail in comparison. And again there are the other sides of success like applegate, yellowgate, the mac 3, Apple maps, hindenbook not to mention the present state of Itunes etc the list can go on an on.

I agree mostly with what others have already stated, myself I’ve been buying Apple products since mid eighties and the last 5 Years have been terrible. There are blind Apple fans that will support just about anything but I’m not one of them. I’ve been very unimpressed of late and other than a new dissapointing iPad Pro 10.5 purchase I now refrain from purchasing newer products simply because I see more limits now than benefits currently.

I’ve owned almost every iPhone including the original, how about you? Many models shutdown in the past, That was no big deal. I found an old iPhone 4 in a drawer a few months ago, charged it up to compare and in every single way it was butter smooth and far faster running IOS 6. Every app was 2-3 times quicker than this iPhone 6 running the same apps under IOS 11. Slower is not progress.

If you want early access to this release, you can join Apple's iOS beta test program. The new feature was just made available to developers today. If Apple follows its usual pattern it should be available to the public beta testers in the next few days.

If you only have one device it is incredibly risky and foolish to install a beta release on it. By definition, a beta release is untested software. It is guaranteed to have bugs, some of them could be serious and could render your device unusable. Beta releases are intended for app developers to get advance copies to test their apps with. The smart ones install it only on secondary devices that are specifically designated as test platforms, and never install it on the device they use every day. You also cannot get support in this forum for a beta release, so if it breaks your device you are on your own.

Apple did not replace my battery, they asked me to reset my settings and wait for about 4 to 5 days to see how it goes. I reset my settings, but it’s still super slow. It’s not possible that before updating my IOS everything is great, and after that it becomes super slow and frustrating. I hate working with my iPhone and I won’t buy any Apple products.
