Problems with Scarlett 212 and High Sierra

Since I have upgraded to High Sierra my Scarlett 212 audio interface has a developed a delay. The delay occurs when using both the Logic X and regular system sounds. No other setting or equipment has changed and the Scarlett has the latest version of the firmware. Has something changed in High Sierra that may have affected this?

Couple of things...

Is this a 2i2 - 2nd Gen? If so Focusrite released a low latency patch for it sometime ago, if you installed it, remove it, it generally causes more problems than not. Have to contact Focusrite support for that, if you haven't installed it don't.

Things to look at.

(even though it's system wide)

Set Logic's Preferences Audio-

Set Multithreading to "Playback Tracks"

Make sure the I/O buffer is set to 128

If you have installed "Gobbler" uninstall it?

Download and install the latest Focusrite driver.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, there's still a significant delay.

I followed some instructions from the Focusrite support desk to re-set my audio device settings and checked the settings described in your post.

This is a 214 (not 212) Second Gen and it's patched to the latest firmware.

I set the Multithreading option to Playback tracks

The I/O buffer was set to 128. (Setting it to 32 improved the performance in the Logic, but there's still a delay that was not noticeable before installation of High Sierra)

I don't have Gobbler installed

There is not a Focusrite driver for the Mac but the latest firmware is installed (V1116)

I'd be grateful for any further thoughts.

Hi Folks, I intend to buy the Scarlett 212 2nd edition for my son to use on his Macbook Air (early 2015). I have read on some forums that there are issues with using the Scarlett 212 on Mac OS High Sierra due to some driver incompatibility issues. Are any of you facing problems? I'm wondering if I need to pick up a different USB audio interface.

Thanks!

Hi. After around 1 year and a half using Scarlett 2i2 2nd gen I had this problem when I updated for High Sierra 10.13.1 and the post here helped me a lot. Thank you very much for posting the solution!
The quality of Scarlett 2i2 2nd Gen is excelent. I think it is a isolated problem that they can solve it quickly.

And indeed I contact the support.focusrite.com and they promptly sent me a solution. I did the downgrade and the latency problem was solved.

I'm talking now with Focusrite to get information how about new versions that will comes up.
