How do I read 5.2 GB Double Sided DVD RAM discs from 2001? Is there an external drive and/or software for my MacBook Pro 17"

Correct, Superdrive cannot read.
The discs are built into a case - I break them out of case.
Superdrive attempts to read and ejects.
Ideas
5.2 GB? Odd specification: that is usually 8.5 GB. What brand are they?
If they are in a sealed case, have they actually ever had anything recorded on them?

I used an inexpensive USB superdrive for doing installations of double sided disks.
I used the "LG USB superdrive".
Just hold down the "option" key on "power-up" and select to boot off the Superdrive.
