Album cover won't show in Finder

Album covers of mp3/aac files won't show in Finder after upgraded to macOS 10.13.

All of my 3 Macs have the same issue.

I believe it's not a special case but a system bug....or it's not?

Anyone experiencing the same problem?

It's so obvious, I don't know how could this happen...

And, yet I don't know how to report the issue besides the old feedback site, which I've reported several bugs and no one cares...

This issue has been fixed in 10.13.2 (confirmed at my Mac mini 2014, two MacBook Pro 13'' 2015).

If you're experiencing some fixed, some not problem, it may relate to the system cache, try some tool which can rebuild the cache files.

I'm changing this topic to solved.

After all still very disappointed that Apple took so long to fix such a obvious yet (should) can be fixed easily problem.

Considering the huge bugs happened to macOS, iOS, watchOS(extremely slow), really frustrating.

Hi, folks

I see on my MacBook Pro 2015 Mid after this update the cover art is back in finder! But in my iMac Late 2015 Don't!

I just updated to 10.13.2 and am still having the same problem. Some of the artwork on my files are now showing up, but not all. Frustration remains...

Used Onyx for my cache, but still having the same problem. I don't think that the problem has been fully solved.

There something strange ! The 64x64 don’t appear in pictures folder but in large sélection it works

Wanderingrogue I only use mp3 files and this issue is not fixed for me either with 10.13.2.

AIFF files don't seem to be affected by the Finder bug. My entire label catalog is in AIFF format with embedded cover art and those show up in Finder (but not in Quicklook I just noticed). Mp3, FLAC and M4a will not show cover art in Finder or quicklook.

I'm surprised that the fault was not in the new macOS itself, but probably the combination of High Sierra 10.13 + iTunes 12.7.

My system now shows cover art in my music files in finder with macOS 10.13.1 AND iTunes 12.7.1

Edit: No restart was necessary, except relaunch of the iTunes application of course.

Does it work after a reboot, because it didn’t fix the problem on either of my Macs?

I’ve installed High Sierra 10.13.1 and iTunes 12.7.1 and the bug is still present.

If it’s like the bug we have been encountering, if you reboot your computer then all of your album art will once again vanish.

What worked for me is opening a file in iD3 editor by PA Soft changing an arbitrary metadata field and re-saving the file. Only then did the cover show up. This isn't a convenient solution though because batch changing and re-saving doesn't fix the issue and I have to change and re-save each file individually. I've got over 10,000 tracks in my collection so currently looking for a better solution.

I might found a solution or maybe a one time only solution...

I might made a mistake by saying it’s nothing to do with iTunes. I downloaded iTunes full dmg from website, installed it and the issue disappeared.

However it happens again after a reboot...

Currently It’s running a task cannot retry this.

Thought you guys might wanna have a try.
