MacOS High Sierra netinstall will not start if ssd was pre-formatted into APFS.

macOS high sierra netinstall requires ssd to be formatted in Mac OS extended file system.

pre-formatting disk to apfs leads to system disk becoming non-bootable, after installer copied install files to disk and rebooted.

Is it a normal macOS high sierra netinstall behavior?

would I always need to format disk to Mac OS extended to do a clean install?

You do not say what machine

or

if this HDD or SSD

Because only ssd are supported by apfs and it does not matter if it is MacBook or Mac Pro - same behavior.

I’m not trying to install it to unsupported fusion drive or hdd.
