System freezes since High Sierra

I agree. I don't see how the two issues can be related.

Not being any sort of genius but it was my impression with HS there was also a firmware upgrade so if you reverted to Sierra you needed to be very sure all elements of HS were eliminated.

3 months has passed. Nothing from Apple.

Same problem here, freezing and only a restart will fix. Mac pro, 6 core, 32gb ram, 2 monitors.

Happens in the middle of using Native Instruments maschine, Melodics, and Chrome mostly.

It’s crazy that after all this time Apple has not fixed. I can’t do much with machine freezing like this. May be it’s a way to tell us to buy new laptops.

This has been a show stopper.

I solved my problem with this. I went back to 10.7 and will NEVER EVER update the Mac OS again. Just glad I kept my old 10.7 disk.

The problem for me has simply gone away, I cannot explain why or how, it just has, and I've not even downloaded the latest patch either. It's just stopped doing it altogether. Weird huh?

IMac still freezing

Have you tried to do an Internet recovery?

Yes, first time it froze during download, then I switched to cable for better speed, it finished downloading, but still freeze during system install, tried a couple times now.

My SSD was already formatted as APFS, probably so after the High Sierra update, I heard that the install would change the file system automatically.

The freeze issue has pre-dated High Sierra for me. It’s been an issue for about 12-18 months.
