instaling iPod Linux

HELP!!! ok, i have a 5th gen iPod Nano, im trying to install iPod Linux from ipodlinux.org. it downlaods fine, but when i open and go to install it when i have it connected via USB, and try to use the auto installer, i get "An error occurred while installing linux: error reading firmware version from iPod data file."

I have tried rebooting the nano into Disk Mode as well, but it still gives me the same thing.
