UploadManager (Safari Internet plug-in) quit unexpectedly while using the UploadManager plug-in. Can anyone tell me what this means and how I can fix it. I get this message every time I open Safari. I have Safari 11 and on High Sierra OS.

Hi Shy Wolf,

I understand that a plug-in is crashing every time you open Safari and I'm happy to provide some help for this issue.

Check out the steps to remove plug-ins in the following article:

If Safari is slow, stops responding, quits unexpectedly, or has other issues - Apple Support

Remove Internet plug-ins and other add-ons

You can remove Internet plug-ins and other add-ons to learn whether any are causing the issue. To find them, quit Safari and open these Library folders:

  • The Library folder at the top level of your hard drive. Open it from the Finder by choosing Go > Go to Folder from the menu bar. Then type
    /Library
    and click Go.
  • The Library folder in your home folder. Open it by holding Option while choosing Go > Library from the menu bar.

The Library folders contain the following folders for add-ons. Move any files within these folders to the Trash.

  • Internet Plug-Ins
    Don't remove Default Browser.plugin, nslQTScriptablePlugin . xpt , Quartz Composer . webplugin , or QuickTime Plugin.plugin.
  • Input Methods
  • InputManagers
  • ScriptingAdditions

If removing the files from these folders resolves the issue, quit Safari again and gradually put back files until you find the one causing the issue:

  1. Open the Trash and select one of the files you removed. Chose File > Put Back. The file returns to its folder .
  2. Open Safari and see if the issue returns.
    • If the issue returns, you've identified the add-on causing the issue. Avoid using it or contact its maker for an updated version.
    • If the issue doesn't return, quit Safari and put back another file.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!y

I'm also having this problem and was happy to see that you helped another person. However, your instructions didn't solve the problem for me.

There are some differences for me. For those plug-ins you said not to remove I don't see the Default Browser.plugin or Quartz Composer.webplugin and the nslQTScriptablePlugin.xpt and QuickTime Plugin.plugin are in a sub folder named "Disabled Plug-Ins" under Internet Plugins. Additionally, I don't see a InputManagers folder.

I removed all of the plugins that I could find from your list but when I relauched Safari I still got the error even with all of the plugins in the trash.

I'd appreciate any additional insight you might have. Thanks!

My situation is exactly the same as summarised by dlittle238, especially referencing paragraph starting with "There are some differences for me ....". Identical on my mac Most of these folders did not contain anything and when I removed all the internet plugins, it did not solve the issue. I keep sending the report to Apple. This is a brand new 27" iMac and all software is up to date.
