Sync iPod Classic with iTunes

Using iMac (OS 10.11.6) and Classic iPod.

I am unable to sync my iPod Classic with iTunes (12.7.0)
iTunes does not recognize the iPod (USB connected).

The only devices listed in iTunes “Preferences” are my iPad and iPhone.

How can I sync the iPod Classic with new purchases and other info on my iTunes (12.7.0)?

Preferences (devices) will only show iOS devices that have been backed up.

Try a different/known good cable or check for fluff in the docking port.
