You can not remove any "Calendars" that are provided under "Other" because they are the default ones that come with the App itself, you can only "deselect" them by unticking, but calendars under any other section should be removable either by tapping Calendars (at the bottom) then Edit or going to Settings/Accounts & Passwords (for removing subscribed or CalDAV ones).

The default calendars provided by the App under "Other" by the way should be Holidays (US or UK or other country), Birthdays and Siri Found...

Sorry, should of added that if you have any additional Calendars (other than the three default ones) under "Other" it's likely that it's been added by the user at some time, those should be removable via either of the two methods previously described. I haven't tried so can't confirm if user added calendars can actually be saved under "Other" or not, so thought I should include the above just in case.

Go to Settings>Accounts & passwords>Subscribed Calendars ( if you see a different calendar than the one you want to delete) you have to tap on Subscribed Calendars to view all calendars you are subscribed to. Then select the required calendar from the list of caendars , and tap Delete Account at the bottom of the page. I hope this will be helpful. Have a good day.

I think the confusion lies with the fact some are seeing "Holidays" under another section (and not just "Other"), ie. it might appear under iCloud or another subscribed area. Now I could be wrong, but if an Holiday calendar appears elsewhere then it was added by the user and should therefore be able to be removed by said user.

But if for example you added or subscribed to an Holiday calendar on your Mac and it was placed in the iCloud section, although it would be available across all of your devices, removing it might mean doing so from the device it was added (ie. the Mac). I think this was mentioned before, but some time ago Apple had issues with the "in-built" Holiday calendar appearing (under "Other") and the only work around was to subscribe directly, but if the in- built started working again you ended up with two until you removed the user added one!

I believe the issue in this discussion with regards to removal of certain calendars depends on several factors, are they default App in-built (ie. tick box activated), user added on a per device basis, user added and placed under iCloud (so they appear across all devices) and subscribed (either per device or under iCloud), all except the in-built will have a specific way to remove depending on how they were added.

If I've missed anything or got it mixed up I'm sure someone will help correct the above, but that's how I believe the Calendar App functions.

Similarly, I have no “subscribed” calendars, only a shared calendar that is one of several calendars associated with a gmail account (LA Dodgers game schedule calendar). There is no way that I can see in iOS 11.2.6 to edit or remove, either in settings or on the calendar app, any calendar. I would be content to toggle it off, but notifications still keep coming, despite the notifications toggle being “off”.

I always thought "Shared" calendars had to be removed from the account that they are linked too, so in your case do you not sign in to Google and remove from there!

I've no Shared calendars to test the above, but my understanding is that you have three ways to setup a calendar for iOS, "Specific" to the device which you remove from within Calendar itself on said device, "Subscribed" calendars which has to be removed from within Settings on that device and "Shared", which is managed/removed from the web account for that service.

But even if I haven't quite got the above correct, the areas I would try for removal of a "calendar" is from within the App itself, then within the devices Settings section (ie. iOS's Accounts & Passwords) and lastly going to that accounts Web Site.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for this tip.

There doesn't appear to be any way to delete that sort of calendar from "Settings" or from the Calendar app on an iPad. And I couldn't find a way into this from Google on the iPad.

But on a desktop, from Settings in the relevant Gmail account, drilling down a few levels took me to two options - "unsubscribe" and "delete". Deleting it from the desktop worked to delete it from the iPad as well.

That's a very good point and one that could help a few others, completely forgot that sometimes a calendar can only be "managed" on the device it was originally setup on, which a lot of the times is the PC!

But it can also be the case that a PC just offers more functionality for doing that sort of thing when compared to iOS, which can appear "cut-back" in comparison.

Whatever the reason, if someone is having difficulty in removing a calendar on one device then it's possible by using another they might succeed.

Happy you resolved.

Thank you, this answer was really helpful.

I have an iPad, iPhone, Macbook and I use iCloud to sync across. I found "Holidays" was in-built under Öthers" calendars in the iPad and iPhone, but were not appearing on Mackbook and iCloud. I suspect that calendars that are under öthers may be stored locally and not shared across iCloud.

Since I wanted the holidays to appear across all devices, I subscribed to a "holiday" calendar from the internet, put it under iCloud, and hide the in-built holidays calendar on the iPhone and iPad. You can hide the calendar by click the button "calendar" at the bottom of the app when calendar is open and uncheck the in-built calendar. This is just a simple way to make the double entry disappear, but is not a deletion fix.
