Has anybody been having problems with iMovie 10.1.7? I can open it and it will allow me to open a project but once I start trying to do anything it crashes. Sometimes it's really sneaky and lets me do an edit or two. It happens on any project I open. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but it still crashes. I'm on OS Sierra 10.12.6.
Any ideas?

Yes, still crashes. Using High Sierra and iMovie 10.1.7.
I left a one star review ("crash-o-matic") and that got their attention.
Support e-mailed me today and I just responded to them a a few minutes ago.
I will keep people posted, if there is a solution that we can implement.
Same here. OS 10.12.6, iMovie 10.1.7, MacBook Pro 2017 crashes while working on a project. I sent several reports but you never know if it gains their attention. I have new machine, fresh software and apps all up to date.
I just had iMovie upgrade to 10.1.7 and crashes so much I can not finish a project. I am afraid to delte anything because I don't want to loose all of the stuff I have created. I am a teacher and I do the morning announcements with my students and have created a project for each day of the week and then insert videos daily. I love iMovie and this is the first time I have had this project.
Clarifying: no external monitor involved. Sometimes restart of iMovie yields "library repaired) after which it may or may not crash again. Clearing iMovie package contents does not permanently fix the crash problem. Inconsistent what actions during project edit cause the crash.

This fixed the crash issue for me.
I created a new iMovie library, created a new movie to test if it would crash. Switched back to the old library and everything worked as expected.

Hmmm, I have tried everything suggested... still crashes repeatedly.
I am trying the High Sierra update. Wasn’t even aware of that one... I’ll come back and update if that fixes things for me.

I have basically the same as you: Sierra 12.12.6 and iMovie 10.1.7. iMovie stopped working after I think an upgrade in the last month. Is your iMovie still crashing?
