How to stop IOS 11 battery full beeping

With the upgrade to IOS 11 when charging my phone, when it reaches full the phone starts beeping. This is very disturbing at night and requires me to unplug to stop the noise. This then leads to a 90% charged phone by the morning. How can I stop this unnecessary alert?

iPhone 6, iOS 11.0.2

This is by far the most frustrating thread I have ever read. On one side multiple people, myself included, are posting about exactly the same fault symptoms. On the other there are basically 3 people who refuse to accept what they are being told and keep insisting that the posters have faulty phones/batteries/chargers or whatever. Let me make this perfect clear. With so many people posting about exactly the same issue then it isn't bloody lint in the charging port! I'm an engineer working on very high tech equipment and these reports would be sounding alarm bells right back to our factory. OK, you haven't seen the problem yourself. Lucky you. Lots of other people have though, and just mindlessly repeating the same advice is totally unhelpful.

What we do know is this. The phones affected are at 11.2 or higher. It seems to mostly affect wireless charging. Multiple charging devices are producing the same effect. It's a bug and Apple need to acknowledge and fix it. The workaround posted by one user is so far the only useful bit of advice.

For the record I have a 1 day old iPhone 8 Plus with a brand new Dockall D100 charging base and it pings when the battery is full and the screen displays the full battery icon. And there's not a speck of lint anywhere!

The problem has nothing to do with an “intermittent connection” no matter how often you repeat it. The sound only occurs once the charge is full; intermittent connection sounds alarm regardless of charge level. The sound only occurs on lock screen, not when an app is open; intermittent connection doesn’t care what the phone is doing. With 6 chargers in different places including Apple original, it’s not the charger.

No working iPhone anywhere in the world has ever beeped when the battery is full. It only beeps when it is connected to power. So if it is beeping when full the only logical and correct explanation is that the power source turns off when the phone reaches full charge, then turns back on if the state of charge falls below 100%. A lot of 3rd party power sources to this, so it isn't surprising. This has been stated, correctly, over and over, in this thread.

I use a mophie wireless charging case on my iPhone 7+. Love the case; hate the charging pad that came with it. Unless I position the phone absolutely precisely, it will beep every other minute.

BZZZZZZZZ

Wrong....

I plug in my iPhone = chime

Then it’s displays the green charging icon.

Next chime? When it states that the iPhone is fully charged and displays a HUGE green icon showing that it’s fully charged + a (wait for it.....) CHIME.

There most certainly IS a notification when the iPhone is fully charged, and the OP wants to know how to disable this chime. Your answer is both incorrect, and unhelpful.

I have never had an iPhone, iPod or iPad that beeped when fully charged. Ever.

I have an iPhone X now using a Mophie wireless charger. It does not beep when full or display a message. Ever. My coffee buddy has the same setup. No beep.

I do have another friend whose iPhone beeps when fully charged and displays a message but his is jailbroke and he runs an app that does it.

I had this exact problem on my iPhone X. It went on for a few weeks and then my phone refused to charge.

I do do think that it is caused when the phone has reached 100% and stopped charging; and then starts again. So not beeping when it reaches 100%, but rather when it dipped below 100% and starts charging again.

I had it replaced at the Apple store. After that, the new phone was fine.

until yesterday when it started beeping again on the charging pad.

I set it up as a new phone, but I have re-added many of the apps that were on the previous phone.

its doing it again with many different charging docks, cables, etc.

So unless I just happened to get 2 bad hardware phones, I think it IS software related - possibly in how IOS works with some 3rd party Qi chargers due to how they start and stop... or possibly due to specific apps that we have installed.

Don’t know if this helps any; but I do know that declaring with certainty what the problem is based just on just personal experience and the berating others who think otherwise surely does not.

My new iPhone X does the same, and my experience is the same as other posters - not the connection! So frustrating as it wakes me up. I’ve posted on the Apple feedback page and hope lots of others will too

Posting it in the Apple feedback page isn't going to be helpful in this case. Feedback is not for issues where phones are working in a way that they are not designed to work. If your phone is beeping when it completes charging, it (or the adapter or the cable) is malfunctioning. You deal with that through Apple Support.

My IPhone X is doing the same with IOS 11.2.6

I really hope Apple fixes this bug with the next update, it’s really annoying & keeps waking my husband throughout the night. I’m a heavy sleeper & don’t hear it but he has to get up every morning around 4am to unplug as it keeps beeping & waking him.

An iOS update is not going to fix a phone that is defective. The behavior your seeing is not normal. You need to do basic troubleshooting steps and, if they fail, take your phone to Apple for evaluation.

As you apparently haven't read the thread you posted to, let me summarize it. No iPhone has ever beeped when it reaches full charge. NONE. Not even the iPhone X. iPhones only beep when they START charging, not when they stop. If you hear the charging beep it means that your power source has disconnected, then reconnected, thus starting charging again. It is beeping because it started charging.

There is nothing that Apple can do about this. You can fix it by using only an Apple power source, which does not turn on and off. You can also use the Mute switch on the phone.

Apple says that its wireless charging is compatible with Qi chargers. A great deal of Qi chargers stop charging when the phone is detected as fully charged to avoid over-charging. If 'apple approved' chargers behave differently then I'd like to know exactly how - and I'd like to understand whether or not that is even a good thing to not stop charging when fully charged.

If apple chargers DO behave differently in concert with the iPhone's chipset to avoid overcharging, then again I have to ask 'why'? I'd also maintain that Apple's claim of Qi compatibility is fraudulent; since it doesn't work the same as it does for other manufacturer's phones.

And the answer is most likely 'So Apple can charge licensing fees for their 'approved' designation.

Whether or not you agree or disagree with ANY of that, or whether you have some more detailed information that better explains this problem...

when Apple claims it is compatible with something; which is a deliberate marketing decision to INFLUENCE PURCHASE DECISIONS... and as a result a great number of users get super-annoying 'beeps' during the night - or 'buzzes' if they have phone silenced - then those folks have a legitimate reason to seek answers and solutions.
