Camcorder won't sync after High Sierra update

I updated to MacOS High Sierra a few days ago and since then my videos won’t copy off the camera anymore.

I’m using a Sony HDR-CX455 camcorder. I store video on the internal storage on the camera. When I plug it in (old USB>USB C adaptor>MacBook Pro 13” 2016 TB), the charge light on the camera works, meaning there is power going to it. However, when I start the sync option on the camera, it pops up on my desktop (the UNTITLED drive for the camcorders internal memory), then disappears and gives me the “you disconnected this item improperly” warning.

I’ve tried a different USB-C cable, different ports, and keep getting the same result. I also tried to plug in another USB device (my iPhone 6), and I’m able to sync with no issues. So I’m not sure if it’s the camera, or if MacOS High Sierra has an issue with syncing camcorders?

The camcorder is relatively new, I think it came out early last year if I’m not mistaken.

Any ideas?

I ended up finding a fix. I couldn't get the camera to sync so I bought a USB-C card reader for my miniSD card, and was able to get videos off my camcorder.
