I've been putting tv shows on my iPod, and they are under the "TV Show" catagory on both my iTunes and my iPod. In order to put the TV show information in, I went to "Get Info - Video - changed it to "TV Show", and put in the series name, and under episode ID - the title of the episode - BUT, in order for the name of the show to appear in the list of episodes, I have to put the name of the episode in the info section as well under "Name" - so what is the purpose of an Episode ID if that doesn't identify the name of the episode on it's own - and you really need to put the title in the "Info" section which would be the most important....
do I have the definition of an "Episode ID" wrong? is it not used for the name of the episode?
I believe Episode IDs are the ID numbers that the show producers assign to each episode. They distinguish them from each other and often include the sequential number of the episode as well as the original air-date.
The episode number is the number of the episode for sequential purposes. The episode ID differs from this as it is the production number assigned to the episode. Usually the is sequential but occasionally an episode is filmed or originally slated to air in a different order from when it actually does, and episode ID would indicate this.
For example, in the first season of House, the first episode aired had a production number of "HOU-101," but the second episode aired had a production number of "HOU-105."
