Device Limit Reached

Due to some issues I was having with my iPad, it was recommended I do a reset. Well, I've done a few, and now when I try to add my Chase card to Apple Pay I get the following message: this card cannot be added until it is removed from one of the other devices that is using it.

I did some research and contacted Chase. The tech specialist told me that he could see the 12 or so iPad profiles on my account, but none of them had an card associated to them through Apple Pay. He also told me he couldn't delete the profiles for those iPads (it's just one that apparently created a profile every time it was reset) and told me to contact Apple.

Any suggestions would be welcome. I deleted the iPad from the my devices on icloud.com but that doesn't seem to be the problem. There seems to be some issue where when the iPad was restored it created another profile and for some reason it's not being deleted and is counting against my device limit.

Hi

It may help to follow these steps:

  • Go to: Settings > tap on your name (at the top) > at the bottom of the screen, Sign out.
  • Go to: Settings > Touch ID & Passcode - Turn Passcode off.
  • Restart your iPhone.
  • Sign back in to your Apple ID account, turn Passcode back on and try again to add your card.
