i am wonder how I could track a run on my  watch and, while running, record multiple interval distances/times And review the data from the intervals while still running/recording the total run distance. Is this possible with the watch sports app?

It is not possible to program pre-set intervals for the Workout app, whether defined by time or distance.

Hello Jonathan,

thank you for your reply. I have seen that article but am a little unclear as to whether the split times would be viewable while tracking the set metrics displayed on the watch face for the full run. Currently I use a Polar V800 and hit a lap button to start and stop an interval. The recorded distance and time it took to cover it are displayed on the screen for a few moments before the watch face switches back to time/pace/distance etc. im hoping that a double tap on the Apple Watch will start & stop a segment (even if the screen is locked to prevent accidental input) in a similar manner of the V800. Also, do you know if I can a pre set a specific interval distance into the watch so after I double tap to start an interval it stops automatically once the distance is covered?

thanks

Jim

Thanks again for the quick reply Jonathan. May I ask, just for clarification, would I start a run using the  workout run choice and then run the ‘Intervals’ app simultaneously and then switch between apps for interval segments during a run, simply double tap the watch to start and stop an interval within the  wokout run choice, or just run the Intervals app and it will track the metrics for an entire run with the ability to insert various intervals throughout the run?

I apologize if I’m not explaining myself very clearly in type. Ideally I’d love to come across a YouTube video showing the way recording intervals is achieved within a run.
