Is it ok if I don't want to update my iPad

Hello !

I have iPad mini iOS 9

and it's totally fine , no troubleshoots and no bugs

and I don't want to update it for personal reasons

so my questions are :

is it ok if I don't update my iPad and stay on iOS 9

will that affect on my iPad or my apple support or security?

will I face some troubles or bugs if I decided in future to update my iPad from iOS 9 to iOS 11 or later ?

I haven't updated either my iPhone 5s nor my personal iPad mini 4 (although my son has updated his). They are both still on iOS 9.3.5. It's perfectly fine if you don't update but be aware that if your device needs to be restored (iOS needs to be reinstalled) at some point, the most recent version of iOS that your device qualifies for will be downloaded & installed. There's no getting around that. Also the fact that was brought up about apps requiring the newer versions of iOS will eventually be an issue.

BTW, your iPad mini (if it's a first generation) is already at it's maximum iOS version (if it is in fact on iOS 9.3.5 as your devices state). You can update no further even if you wanted to.

It’s totally okay if you don’t want to upgrade. This, however, won’t last forever. Over time there will be apps that will no longer support the iOS and will tell you that you need to update eventually, but for now if everything is working as you want it to work and you aren’t trying to get new apps that don’t support that OS anymore, you are totally fine sticking with what you have.
