Recently, when I get iMessages, they pop up on my laptop even if I try to exit iMessage once it automatically opens. I shut it down but then if a message comes into my phone, the application again opens on my computer. I don't want my messages popping up on my computer (b/c I'm working, or b/c I don't want other people on my laptop seeing my messages). Is there a way to keep it from opening up on my laptop?

If you don’t want to see messages from iMessage on your Mac, you can make the account inactive or sign out.
Choose Messages > Preferences, click Accounts, then select the iMessage account on the left.
Do one of the following:
Make the account inactive: Deselect “Enable this account.” When you make an account inactive, your status is displayed as Offline.
Sign out: Click Sign Out, then confirm that you want to sign out. When you sign out of iMessage, you no longer receive messages through that account.
