Remove Top Hits from Mac Mail High Sierra

After installing High Sierra, whenever I do a search in mac mail the first two items that show up are "Top Hits". I am used to the latest emails showing up. This is extremely disruptive to my workflow and causes me to make mistakes.

How can I remove the top hits search line from mac mail?

Yes, this is absolutely ridiculous, along with the decision to merge multiple emails by thread. I'd purchase another email app if there was one. This is really the first example of 'forced AI' - good for you for pointing it out. This easily could be an option.

You are not forced to merge multiple emails by thread.

In the View menu, uncheck "Organize by Conversation".

Show most recent message at the top

Display the most recent message in a conversation first in the preview area. If deselected, the oldest message appears first.

See this article : Mail Viewing preferences on Mac - Apple Support

The method is already given in previous answer how to remove top hit .

Are you serious. It is delaying my search capabilities. Apple should not be forcing things on people that do not suit their purposes. The reason I have always been an Apply girl was because it would allow me to use things in the easiest manner. If this is the case I won't be able to use the bloody app anymore. It has already caused many delays today!

Thanks. Although using the method/option suggested by Inverhuronite does give you a very basic "old school" look, it does appear to at least get rid of the new Top Hits "feature". You see a very basic list of emails, last one received displayed first. PLEEEEEEEZE, technicians. Don't come up with a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. Technology needs to be an assistant not a boss.
