using HDV camera to capture DVCPro HD

I have a request to edit a project in HD - which I'm guessing is shot with a professional DVCPro HD camera.
I only have an HCR-HC3 HDV camera handy.
So my question is .... can I use my HDR-HC3 camera to capture footage onto my computer that's shot with an DVCPro HD camera?

Sorry for my ignorance on the subject of DVCPro...I'm just catching up on this technology. Is regular HD even recorded onto regular mini-DV tapes?

No you can't.

Which cam was the DVCProHD footage shot with? If it is a p2 card based cam, such as the HVX200, then you can copy the p2 folders to your hard drive, and edit with FCP 5.1.2.

You can shoot HDV, capture HDV, then use FCP Media Manager to recompress all your clips as DVCPRO HD. It gives very good results with no apparent loss of quality from the HDV. Lots easier to edit with DVCPRO HD which has a data rate a little bit more than 4X HDV.

Doing it on a project right now, working great.
