Split view not working on iPad air 1

Hi all,

ios 11

I can’t seem to get split view working on my iPad Air version one. I have the settings correct to allow for multitasking, and I restarted the machine but it still is not working.

Any ideas ?

Hi. More precisely, your iPad Air 1 supports Slide Over, but not Split View, same as in iOS 10. Hence, it does not have drag and drop between apps. You can activate Slide Over from within an app by pulling up the dock and dragging an app from it. The old Slide Over app chooser no longer works.

Split View was introduced with iOS 9.

Full split screen multitasking is only available to iPad Pro Models, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 4.

Split screen mode within the Safari web browser, under iOS 10 & 11, may (or may not) work for other iPad models, but full multitasking is limited to the iPad models above.

The new 2017 iPad 5, for example, has the Safari Split screen capability, and, I believe, the Slide Over multitasking functionality ONLY.

The 1st gen iPad Air and Mini 2 and Mini 3 models never had Split View.
