Text Translator in Dashboard missing in High Sierra

I have found that the text translator in High Sierra has disappeared.

Has anyone else seen this and have a solution?

THANKS.

I had the same Q above, did your fix from an external backup I opened up. Dragged it "Translator" from the old Dashboard (DB) to the new DB, it asked for permission, done, it then loaded, I restarted my computer also done. 🙂

2nd row, 2nd icon in. 🙂

I have called Apple support. They have confirmed that its been removed by the 10.13 High Sierra update. Not sure if they will fix this bug on the next update. Or probably due to licensing issues, they had to remove it.

The original translator widget was from Systran, but its not available on their website, so its still probably the best to extract from the older versions of mac OS and install into the widget folder. Unfortunately, I don't have a FTP to provide download for this widget.

Just copy and paste to the widget folder, which can be found by using the Finder, under "Go" & "Go to Folder", enter below:-

/library/widget/

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Yes! I always would use it since I am trying to learn the language and it was always helpful to swipe on my touchpad and then type in an English phrase to see how to spell it in French. Very disappointed that Apple removed this. If I would've known, I would have never updated to High Sierra. I looked for alternatives, but it's just not as fast and simple. Apple, please add it back in the next update!
