Text Translator in Dashboard missing in High Sierra
I have found that the text translator in High Sierra has disappeared.
Has anyone else seen this and have a solution?

Simply restore the translator widget from your time machine backup.
Which is initially located at /Library/Widgets folder.
I have called Apple support. They have confirmed that its been removed by the 10.13 High Sierra update. Not sure if they will fix this bug on the next update. Or probably due to licensing issues, they had to remove it.
The original translator widget was from Systran, but its not available on their website, so its still probably the best to extract from the older versions of mac OS and install into the widget folder. Unfortunately, I don't have a FTP to provide download for this widget.
Just copy and paste to the widget folder, which can be found by using the Finder, under "Go" & "Go to Folder", enter below:-
/library/widget/
Hope this helps. Good luck!
The widget from Systran isn't available anymore, and I didn't have luck going through my folders for the old widget, but I probably didn't do it right or something. Anyway, on Systran's website they have a translator (http://www.systransoft.com/lp/free-online-translation/).
Do you mean the Translation widget in Dashboard.
If you have another mac with Sierra or earlier you can copy the widget over to your /Library/Widgets folder, or from a backup or a friends mac.
Well you are stuffed, did you not make a back up of your Mac before you upgraded? Or do you have a friend or relative with a Mac running Sierra or older that has the Translation widget on it, if so you can just transfer it over.
Think outside the box.
Read the posts above which discuss how to locate the widget in a previous version of OS, from a back up or other mac and then drag the widget over to your High Sierra /Library/Widgets folder.
Thanks! I copied It from Time Machime and works perfect.
Yes! I always would use it since I am trying to learn the language and it was always helpful to swipe on my touchpad and then type in an English phrase to see how to spell it in French. Very disappointed that Apple removed this. If I would've known, I would have never updated to High Sierra. I looked for alternatives, but it's just not as fast and simple. Apple, please add it back in the next update!
What is the solution?
So, if I go to another Mac that has not been updated I copy and paste the file to my other Mac?
Yes.
a link to the file would be great. Thank you
Thanks SO much for this fix - it works!
