For all preconfigured combinations of Apple Watch and band, the product description in the Apple Online Store states the wrist circumference that the watch and band combination will fit.
For example:
Stated wrist sizes relate to the wrist circumference that the combination of band + case is designed to fit.
The same information is also included within the product descriptions for all Apple Watch bands that are available to buy as separate accessories (measurements again apply to the band when worn in conjunction with the relevant size of Apple Watch - 38mm or 42mm):
You may prefer to visit an Apple Store or Apple Reseller to try on different Apple Watch bands before deciding which, if any, additional band to buy.

As detailed in the product description, an Apple Watch that is supplied with a Sport Band comes with a single band that can be configured for two different lengths: S/M and M/L.
For example, see under What's In the Box:
Between the two different configurations, the band and 42mm Apple Watch (when worn together) are suitable for wrist circumferences from 140mm to 210mm.
When buying a preconfigured combination of Apple Watch and Sport Band, the band comes with components for two different length options - S/M and M/L.
When you order a new band you can order s/m or l/xl. What size is the one that comes with the watch? S/m or x/l? Or does it not say?
So it comes with 2 sets of bands??

I spoke with Apple support via chat and they said it only comes with one band. Although I have small wrists I would like the larger watch face. Nothing on the site allows you to make a choice, but you are saying the box will give a "longer and shorter" band option? In the store the large size was too big! Thank you for your help, Deborah
I just ordered the new series 3 42mm but I already know the band is going to be too big for my very small wrist. Does any one know what size (s/m etc) does the band come in? Also any recommendations for 42mm bands that fit any wrist.
