Attempting to open a pages document and I'm getting an error

When attempting to open a pages document I wrote for work I am getting the error "The file format is invalid" It looks like a Pages document, it was written in pages, the extension is Pages. Why am I getting this error and how do I fix it? I can't lose this document.

What version of Pages?

The newest version

I notice you have saved it to a smb server. Have you had any problems previously with files on the server?

I’ve never had an issue before tonight.

Did you write it on the same Mac? Using the same version of Pages? or using an iOS device?

Yes I wrote it on the same MacBook, same version of pages, and I didn’t open it in anything other than Pages.

Did you try Browse all Versions

?

Yes, it says there are no other versions.

This same thing is happening on other documents as well. On both numbers format and pages format. I have months of data in there and I need to get it out. What are your thoughts?

Server issues if it is happening on multiple documents.

It is happening on the three documents I was working at home on using Sonic Wall to connect directly into the server where I have had them stored. The ONLY two documents I worked on that night were the ones that are now corrupt.

Has anything else changed? Any System upgrades? Server upgrades? Wireless connections?

We did download and update a Macs version of Window programs (Excel, Powerpoint, One Note, Word) and it did an update.

Changes to hardware? Apps?

Nothing new, or updates.

Have you tested other documents from other Apps than the iWork three?

I can open other documents using iWork apps. However I did notice that the other documents the icon is a small version of the document and the ones that will not open the icon is a small version of the Pages icon. I added a photo.

PS What does "the newest" mean to you?

Pages Version 6.3 running on macOS Sierra Version 10.12.6

Numbers Version 4.3

Does any of this help??

Okay, I did the same thing at home in the same folder and the same thing happened. Here are photos as I did it.

I duplicated a document from the same folder I was having issues in. When I went to save the document this is the message I received.

When I hit "Ok" this is the message that showed up

When I hit "Ok" to clear that message out this popped up

I hit "Duplicate" and then "Cancel"

I selected "Ok"

and then went back in to see where it duplicated the file to.

I took screenshots of what happened.

I found them in a weird named folder and opened them.

There was a copy saved.

When I went to open it, these are the messages I received.

This is the information that apple provided. However I am the owner of the file, so I am unsure how that works.

Hope this helps!
