Does the iMac Ship in its' Original Box?

Does the iMac Ship in its' Original Box?

When you order an iMac online from the Apple Store, do they ship it in the original box or do they put the iMac box in another box?

Do you have to sign for the package? Can you instruct Apple to have the delivery company hold the package at the depot rather than try to deliver it when you know you won't be home?

It comes shipped in the original apple box with a picture of the iMac on the outside.

All shipments from Apple that I have seen here in the US always use a plain brown outer cardboard box. Not even a logo or company name on it.

Most shipping companies allow for pickup at the depot. Usually you have to wait for one delivery attempt, and then they leave instructions on when and where you can pick it up.

Both my iMac and MacBook came in a clearly marked box leving to doubt as to what is inside of it. Not good for security, but Apple does require a signature for larger items to be released. If no one is home to receive it, they will leave a notice and you can either arrange for another delivery or pick it up at the depot.

My iMac came from China last JAN and it was in the Apple designer box, but that box was inside a plain brown shipping box.

David, did you have your iMac custom configured, or did you order the stock model. Mine was a CTO and that may make a difference.

All of the Macs I have ordered always arrived in a factory box whether ordered from the Apple store or from a reseller like Mac Mall. Yes, you will have to sign for it.

I just got my iMac last week and it came in the factory box inside a brown box.

I had to sign for it.

Hi,

I received my standard configuration 17" iMac in mid-December and it was in it's Fancy Apple box, but that was shipped inside a plain brown box.

Kelvin,

When I ordered my iPod online, I knew I wouldn't be home to receive it, so I printed the FedEx release form and put it on my front door. You can have them leave it on your doorstep or with nice neighbors or whatever. You sign the form, so it's all legal.

Doesn't ordering an iMac have the same option?

My theory was that standard configurations were sent in a plain box and that CTOs were shipped with no such cover - just the nice printed box.
