siri silent during navigation after 11.0.2

Yesterday, when entering the car with a route active in Maps, I had an message box pop up asking for my wifi password. I cancelled out of that and continued my trip. Siri was silent. I tried turning off bluetooth, do not disturb and adjusted her volume to loud. No joy. She has been silent since and even rebooting phone has had no effect. As soon as I end route and close maps, Siri responds to Hey Siri and performs normally.

Any ideas how to get my turn by turn directions back as it is pretty dangerous to look at the phone vs listen.

iPhone 6s, iOS 11.0.2

Further update, I set the new Do Not disturb while driving to Manual and then did not turn it on for the trip. Nav voice worked fine. I'll investigate further and see if there is a real issue to report to Apple. Thanks again for your help.

Siri has nothing to do with navigation. Just because a navigation app has a voice does not mean that it is Siri; and, in fact, it isn't. It is the text-to-speech engine in the navigation app. And WiFi has nothing to do with the voice used by the

navigation app either, so cnceling out of the WiFi dialog had nothing to do with that either. Which navigation app are you using? Have you checked the settings in the app?

Have you checked the volume controls on the side of the phone while the app is open? And the Mute switch?

For Apple Maps, go to Settings/Maps, and look for Navigation Voice Volume.

For Waze tap the Search icon, then the Settings gear icon, then Sound & Voice and check the settings. You also need to check the Sound Output under Advanced. When navigating there is an icon to turn sound on and off when you tap on the bottom bar.

For Google Maps just use the volume buttons.

Thank you for responding to my question. I am using Apple Maps and have verified all the settings including navigation voice. The volume buttons on the phone are at max and the mute switch is off. The only reason I mentioned the wifi message box is that it had never come up before when leaving the house, it was just strange. I also checked the new Do Not Disturb while Driving settings and they seem fine. I'm tempted to turn it off altogether for the next try and see if the Nav voice returns. Any other suggestions?
