how to make an exact copy from macbook to imac

I have everything I use for work and personal use on my MacBook Pro. I just recently got a secondhand iMac from a family member. I already erased the hard drive and re installed OS X. How do I make my iMac and exact duplicate of my MacBook? And by doing this will all my apps and programs copy over? Or will I have to re install on iMac?
