Lots of bugs in ios 11.0.3 on iPhone 6s

Having wonderful experience as well, but with iPhone 8 Plus. Most annoying ones

• Taking a picture can freeze the mobile for several seconds. Phone recovers gracefully, but in Analytics / Diagnostics you can see stacks+backboardd crashed same time stamp.
• Mobile loses WiFi, switches to LTE, goes belly up i.e. freezes until some 15-30 seconds later WiFi is back, after which suddenly mobile starts to respond again almost as normal. After this various slowdowns remain until mobile is restarted.

I had session with Apple support, and they run remote diagnostics and stated based in what they collected the hardware side is good, but some issues with software and that they would like to investigate further by first doing factory reset and restore vanilla iOS using iTunes. I stopped the game at this point, as I did full vanilla setup of mobile last year with iOS 10 ending up having most of the issues after spending full weekend configuring all the dozens of apps and configuration options. So no thanks. ios upgrade HAS to be robust enough to handle upgrade process without user ending up having to do vanilla install each year and losing some data doing it.

So.. enduring.. waiting. And hope ios 11.x and following releases will fix major issues. Tired though considering how well 10 was working (eventually).

with iPhone 8 migration: did upgrade of old mobile (7+) to iOS 11. Took encrypted backup in iTunes. Did factory restore to iPhone 8 with latest full iOS download. Restored from 7+ backup old data. Finally tweaked couple of last applications settings manually where needed.

..and here we are now. Searching various forums with *freez* among other things.

Interestingly, iPad Pro 10 works almost flawlessly with same migration steps done from Air 2. Actually, a joy to use. Maybe this iOS version was “iPad first”.

Interestingly, it looks like the hangs/freezes have gone away - although maybe just temporarily, once I offloaded all my pictures from mobile to Lightroom and deleted any pictures from iCloud.

Maybe there are some quirks in the process when library is updated during taking a picture. And maybe this could be related to size of the library somehow. Or combination of using HEIF vs JPEG formats - for some reason some of the images were in HEIF despite choosing compatibility setting in camera settings.

Lots of maybes there but let's see how mobile continues to behave.

Thank you for the suggestion, unfortunately I have done that a number of times.

I finally did a factory reset, erased all data, when I restored from backup same issues.

So I ended up doing a factory reset but did not restore from backup (lost my text messages, call history etc....) but it appears to be working.

I went back to apple support and chatted with them again. Got a senior tech and she went over my notes and then basically tested and synced. Used that gathered info to send into engineers at Apple so they might know what's going on. Maybe try that as they have my history and know I went through the steps and also had it looked at by an Apple specialists. Now I just have to wait.

Just discovered that Apple is no longer signing for iOS 10. So even though I made a backup before I updated to iOS 11 I still can't go back to it because Apple won't let me. This is horrible. I'm spreading the word to every person that I see with an iPhone - DO NOT UPDATE TO IOS 11! I've actually resorted to straight out asking people if they have an iPhone so that I can warn them to stay far far away from this update. I can't use my iPhone for anything except playing 1 game now. That's it. (And it crashes at least once every 20 minutes by the way...) This is the worst update I've had on any iPhone I've owned, and I had to suffer through the iPhone 4, so that's really saying something. (Worst iPhone I've ever had.) My iPhone was completely fine up until this update. Now my iPhone feels like it's on fire almost 24/7 even if I have NOTHING running. My battery life is almost nonexistent, not even "low-battery mode" can help with this drain. I now have to resort back to listening to CD's in my car because my bluetooth doesn't work anymore. Well, to be more specific - it works for about 10 seconds but as soon as I hit the play button it says that it's disconnected. It won't play music, nor make phone calls - even though it still shows up on my dash as making a call through the sync system. Please fix this immediately so we can all go back to our daily lives and try to remember why we stuck with Apple, because right now...well, I can't really think of any reason why I stuck with an Apple phone this long.

Has there been any indication, officially from Apple, that iOS 11 is specifically addressing things like battery life and some of the other weird problems that are being experienced?

I was hopeful that 11.0.1,2,3 were going to at least address battery life, but since there was no specific mention of it in the release notes it clearly didn't address that.

Hoping somebody has some insider info regarding battery at least...

I am having the same issues as you! I didn't want to but Apple Support today had me do a reset and I have the same issues as before but now my battery is draining much faster. They setup an appointment for me to get service tomorrow and possibly swap out my iPhone 8 but after reading all these posts it's probably a software issue.

Then don't accept the replacement. Insist that you want to live with the problems.

As I recall, they didn't actually catch fire. They exploded!

Horrible battery drain. I used to make it through till bedtime without having to worry about recharging. Now I am down to 30 or 20% by 7pm. And that is with charging it in car on way home. Not buying a new iphone they are replacing mine.

Since the 11.0.3 update for my 6s my biggest issue is with my text messaging. It never goes to full screen anymore, it crashes, it lags.....I have alot of other issues with the iOS standard built ins but for me being a frequent user of text messaging it is beyond frustrating.

I do wonder why on a new release of another iPhone our older models always seem to have problems. Why do Apple always think the general public are so wealthy to be able to afford their product......I hate saying this as I do like them over other makes 😩

Biggie is battery life on my 6s - just last night 58 min of talk time dropped battery by over 30% - it is horrible. Where Apple gets their battery life estimates must be in perfect lab conditions - real life is far from their numbers. Terrible!

Second thing is they took away the clear button for the most recent notifications - seems like the only way to get rifd of them is to ignore them until they are old enough to clear or clear each one individually which a royal pita if there is a long list. Long list also do not seem to scroll well so it seems impossible to get to the older notifications, at least on the lock screen.

More crap from apple force feeding us their ideals rather than letting us choose!

Not to mention that it uses this forum as a source. Thus completing the circle. Or that Forbes traditionally publishes "fake news" about Apple, whose editors despise Apple. However, Forbes also has a long history of including ads on its site that attempt to install malware on your computer. So it is really risky to go to forbes.com for anything.
