email received regarding charges I did not make
I received an email from Apple stating that my account has purchased 2 gift cards for a total of $100 however I have not purchased anything.
Please assist.

Very likely a scam. If you hover your mouse over the link in the email, and it points to anywhere besides an apple.com webpage, it's almost certainly a scam. You may also be able to tell based on the sender address.
