"Rest finger to open" is inconsistent in iOS 11, iPhone SE & 8
I've had "Rest finger to open" accessibility setting on for the last few years for each new iPhone that I've upgraded to each year. Since I've been using it for a while, I know how it's supposed to work. With "Raise to wake" also on, you just lift the phone and set your finger on the home button (without pressing the button) to unlock using TouchID. I typically have my finger on the home button while I raise to wake. No issues in the past.
On both an iPhone 8 and iPhone SE, I'm experiencing inconsistent behavior in which the phone does not unlock, as expected. About 20% of the time, which is enough for me to lose confidence in the feature, I'll have my finger on the home button while raising to wake. The screen turns on but nothing happens. If TouchID doesn't recognize my fingerprint, the text at the bottom shakes and says "try again", but that doesn't happen when I experience this issue.
I've never had any issues on my iPhone SE until iOS 11 was released and I've been experiencing this same behavior with 11.0, 11.01, 11.02 and now 11.03. With an iPhone 8, which was setup as new (not from backup), I was seeing this same issue about the same percentage of the time. I no longer have the iPhone 8.
I have also tried resetting my iPhone SE and setting up as new, changing nothing other than this setting and still get the issue, which leads me to believe it's iOS 11 related.
Anyone else having similar issues?
iPhone SE, iOS 11.0.3
