my keyboard is sending the letters not in the order in which they were typed. I have an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) with a USB keyboard. It doesn't happen when I use a bluetooth keyboard. Is there a reset or something to fix this?
Have you accidentally changed the keyboard language / region on the USB keyboard? If you go to System Settings / Language and Region / Keyboard Preferences (with the USB kb plugged in) see what is selected there, you may have to change back to your preferred option.
Thanks for the suggestion. It is set to the correct region. The letters that I intended to type are there, they are in the wrong order (not the order that I typed them). The faster I type, the more frequently it happens.

Sounds like the other keyboard is damaged in some way. Any software settings apply to all keyboards.
