Edit documents from Files app on your iPhone / iPad

Hi! Is it possible to edit files stored on my iCloud drive from my iPhone (not just view them)? For example, when I try to open a MS word document, it opens as "read-only" and offers me to make a copy on my iPhone if I want to make changes. But that's not the idea... Does anyone know if the same thing happens on iPad? Thanks!

I’m editing a document now. When will my changes upload to iCloud?

When you'll see your changes depends on the app you're using. Pages, Numbers, and Keynote upload files to iCloud regularly to make sure you don’t lose any changes. Other apps upload your files to iCloud only after you save them to the iCloud Drive folder. To see your saved files on a Mac, go to Finder > iCloud Drive. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to the iCloud Drive app. On a PC with iCloud for Windows, go to File Explorer > iCloud Drive.

If you still don't see the latest changes or you see an "in-progress change" icon or the iCloud Drive icon in the notification area (system tray), try to save a new document to the iCloud Drive folder. Then check the iCloud Drive folder to see if the changes appear.

Hi, I have the same problem when trying to edit on my iPad a Word file stored in my Mac's iCloud Drive folder. (Note that I'm using "Office for Mac 2011"). I guess that there's no solution, unfortunately.

Because I have discovered here :

Microsoft Office support for macOS 10.13 High Sierra - Office Support

that Microsoft has tested the Office 2016 version on High Sierra, but not the 2011 version and that no more support is provided for the old one.
