You can go to Apples website for resetting your Apple ID password https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201487 and reset it there. Once done with that you can go to If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support to reset the iPad to get back into it. If you can’t get into the Apple ID however, then you’re pretty much not going to be able to do much to get it back.

we cant get into my sons ipad because he changed his PW and doesnt remember it. it is associated with an icloud email account that he doesnt know the PW to either! is there any hope?
