Please help, i bought an iPhone 6 from carphone warehouse and put a three sim card in which I've used for 2 years now. but i now want to move to EE so i can use it with the new apple watch 3 but no-one seems to be able to unlock my phone. three say speak to apple. apple say speak to three mean while I've cancelled my three account and I'm paying for an EE account that i can't use.

I'm afraid that until your previous provider unlocks your phone that you cannot use the device on another provider's network. Your new provider needs to provide you with their SIM to install in your phone. The SIM from your prior provider will not work on the new provider's system.

i bought the phone new from carphone warehouse then put in a three sim card which was used for two years before i decided i wanted to change provider to EE i was assured on several occasions by three that the phone would be unlocked and that id have no issues in using other sim cards however this is not the case and three are struggling to unlock the phone. its annoying that i bought the phone outright costing over £600 and i am now effectively without a phone that own and paid a lot of money for because it is tied to Three which is the exact scenario i didn't want and why i bought the phone outright instead of have a contract in the first place.
If this is the carrier lock then only the company to whom the phone is locked may unlock it. If this is the lock screen's activation passcode:

If you purchased the device second-hand, then it is useless without the Apple ID and password to which it is locked. If you don't have it and cannot get it, then the device is useless to you. Return it for a refund, if you can, or take it to an Apple store for an exchange provided they will help you. If you are the original owner then take the device, a copy of your purchase receipt and identity proof to an Apple retailer where they may be able to assist you.
