  1. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
  2. Tap Review iTunes Videos. If you don't see Review iTunes Videos, you don't have anything downloaded to your device.
  3. Find the movie, show, or episode that you want to delete, then swipe left on it.
  4. Tap Delete.

Hi warrenfromnq,

I have had exactly same issues with rented movies with my IPad Pro as well.

My solution to free media file is to simply deleting Apple’s Videos app and then reinstalling the app from app store.

This simple method did free memory media file, and no longer displays numbers of movies in “about” section under setting.

Its been working without any issues so far, and this simple process doesn’t require restoring your device to factory setting to free media file as suggested in past thread.

Just make sure to backup whatever you have on videos app you don’t want to delete and you’re good to go.

l hope this helps out.

hi hopdeicide

your method must work as obviously you have done it. i had another unrelated issue and i was dealing with apple support and they suggested i might have to do a reset and restore/backup to solve this other issue and the unintended outcome of the reset restore/backup was that it also cleared that media file of the rented movies and i got the storage space back in my storage drive. so we now know how to get our storage back but it still leaves the question as to why apple choose to do this. i have to use up all my storage on unwatchable rented movies and hope that when i need some storage the iPad will delete some of these movies to create room for what i now need it for. seems a strange way to do things. and the reset restore&backup didn't clear the glitch i have now on the iPad which was the other unrelated issue i have.

thanks for the reply. i will probably do it your way next time i want to clear those rented movies the full reset and restore is a bit over the top just to clear memory space. the movie app is gone replaced with tv app on my iPad now with the latest software update.

first up thanks for the reply. i am using a iPad pro don't have a iPhone. the rented movies are no where to be seen in any settings section. i know they are taking up the storage because the memory is disappearing with every download and the media files keep building up. and if i go to the "about" section in settings it says i have 9 movies. but you can't find these movies anywhere because they are rented and supposedly disappear after 30 days or two days after watching them.
