iBooks audiobook won’t play stuck at time 0:00

So when I try and open about half of my audiobooks through the iBooks app they simply will not play. At first tap it tries to open and shows the correct time stamps then it immediately closes the book down and returns me to the library screen. When I try and tap the audiobook again it comes up with a time of 0:00 and will not play. I have tried a hard reset and deleting iBooks and reinstalling but still won’t work. I currently do not have my Mac so I’m I just screwed? Thanks for any help.

Hi there, Dennis-907!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having an issue with playing audio books in iBooks. You’ve tried some great steps so far to troubleshoot. At this point, I would recommend following the steps here to backup the device: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support .

Once you have a current backup, follow the steps from the “If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up” section in this article: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t turn on - Apple Support . These steps will reinstall iOS. Keep in mind that these steps were written for a different issue, but they will still help isolate the situation further. Once you are done, test and see if the issue is still going on.
