use headphones jack as sound input device in MacBook Pro 2017

Hi all,

I have MacBook Pro 2017 with touch bar. I use garage band and want to connect my electric piano to the MacBook. I can only use headphone output or midi output from my piano. no usb or so.

In earlier versions of MacBooks pro I could change easily the MacBook input jack to an output one, connect my piano with simple audio aux cable, but not anymore.

I know that question was asked many times before but I never saw a working solution for that.

how can I connect my piano to my MacBook Pro with all this given?

I'd connect electrical instruments, like a guitar, a keyboard and a microphone. I am not aiming to professional or studio-level recordings, so I'd avoid buying a dedicated interface, if it still allows me to play through garageband.

So, the audio drive of the device allows an audio output through the usb ports? Or should I get a dedicated external audio interface?

We have no idea what device you are talking about. If it is a usb mic then connect it to the usb port on your computer and follow the device manufacturer's instructions.
