When I play music on my iPhone 7 with iOS 11, the music controls (Play, Pause. Etc.) appear on the Lock Screen.
However, when I press Pause, they disappear for good. Is their a way to get them to come back as opposed to having to onlock the phone and go back in to music and select play again?

Thank you for your response. The issue I have though is that as soon as I press Pause on the lock screen, the controls completely disappear and there is no way to get them back and press play again.
I hope that helps to clarify my issue.
Did you try the advice in the last paragraph of the above response:
If not, swipe up on the display from the Lock screen to open the Control Center, and use the Music controls in the upper right corner. Once this is done, the controls will reappear on the main Lock screen again, as the screenshot you shared shows.
