Does the MacBook Pro draw power from battery or AC outlet if it is plugged?

If my MacBook Pro is fully charged and yet I still leave the outlet connected while using it, will it draw power from the outlet directly or use battery power? Also, will it damage the battery?

It will usually run off the power adapter while plugged in. The power adapter that shipped with your MacBook Pro has enough power to run the system and, at the same time, charge the battery (if not fully charged).

The only exception would be if you connect, for example, the 29W power adapter of a 12" MacBook to a 13" MacBook Pro (which comes with a 61W adapter) - this is possible and will not do any harm; however, depending on the load you put on the system, it may not have enough power to charge the battery or even maintain its charge level.
