Without a computer running iTunes, there is no way on ANY iDevice to do what you want to do.

With any iDevice, it's better to have a computer to use with it.

An iPad or any iDevice is just a companion, supplemental device.

You really need to be using these devices with a computer.

I don't know what an airbook is?

You can't have it repaired?

Your better off getting on new computer than purchasing an iPad.

If something goes wrong with ANY iDevice, many times, the only way to fix the issue is with the use of a computer and latest iTunes version.

Forget an iPad.

Either repair your old computer other purchase a new computer.

My mom has an iPad Air with no computer and every time there is a major issue with it, I have take it and use my Mac to do any backups to iTunes and to do troubleshooting or erase and restores of her iPad.

This will never be possible.

Since old iPod models do not have any Bluetooth connectivity, if you need remote audio, you need to purchase speakers/portable speakers and connect to these speakers using the standard headphone jack

AND/OR

You need to find older 30-pin dock devices that allow the iPod's audio to be transmitted though the iPod's 30-pin Dock connector.

Good Luck to You!

Thank you for your reply. I don't think I explained myself very clearly. I don't want to play music from my iPod through iPad. What I want to do is download podcasts or music to my iPad and then somehow transfer them onto iPod. Is there some kind of cable adaptor I could use? If there isn't I will never be able to add anything new to my iPod. Thanks again for your time.
