iOS 11.0.3 battery drain problem

After installing iOS 11, the battery of my iPhone 6 began to drain drammatically. iOS 11.0.1 solved the problem, but unfortunately 11.0.2 and 11.0.3 brought the problem back again. I have been using iPhone for years and I have never seen a problematic iOS update which kills battery life so badly. Is Apple aware of the battery problems? Is this problem going to be solved with the next update?

Some folks are having severe battery drain issues, I know I am. Check out twitter if you don't believe me - there are several posts every hour with people complaining about this. Apple - please fix this ASAP.

I unplugged my phone at 11:25pm last night and went to work. Here we are, it's 1:11pm when I typed this, power saving mode kicked in at 20% and I still have 10% on the battery. This is 14 hours later.

Which means mine lasts for a **** of a lot longer that people say on here. And I still do not have the battery draining issue even with the phone running full tilt.

Wow. You are who? Is Apple experimenting with Bots now?

You aren’t having a problem, so the rest of us are idiots or lazy sots and obviously doing something wrong?

Five minutes of Googling will reveal that many owners are experiencing this issue after installing IOS 11.0.3. I understand every major IOS release has experienced battery issues on a minority of devices, sometimes due to 3rd party apps on those devices. The litany of generic fixes is well known and well publicized… but they have had no effect on this bug on my iPhone 5S. You don’t seem to be offering any help.

You have an Apple Store next door? Mine is 150 miles away. Not that it would help; when Apple understands the issue, it will be resolved with a software update.

Apple extensively tests each IOS release. It would be most surprising if a large percentage of device owners were experiencing an issue as severe as this battery drain issue. If Apple knew of this issue before release there would not have been a release. I’m confident it is not a conspiracy on Apple’s part; they don’t like bad press.

My advice stands. Unless you absolutely need a fix in 11.0.3 (eg, 3rd party screen issues) SKIP THIS UPDATE. Who needs the hassle?

The ultimate in circular logic. Forbes makes claims about problems with the iPhones and identifies this forum to justify it's statements. You now point to the Forbes article to justify your comments. And round and round and round they go, where they stop, nobody knows.

11.0.3 is a horrible drain on batteries. I have been fortunate in that until this release i have never had a problem with iPhone battery life. Now i can't get through a single day without the need to charge the phone. This is unacceptable!

I was told by Roger with apple support that my battery is bad and needs to be replaced. Shows 100% charged, dead after 1-2 minutes of use. Will not turn back on unless plugged into power then it shows 98% battery. My first experience with apple support has left a lot to be desired!

DO NOT UPDATE TO 11.0.3!

An absolutely excellent example of circular logic which you've done repeatedly. Forbes quotes posts in this forum over and over again to justify their allegations about iPhone battery issues. Posters here (like you) quote Forbes over and over again to justify your allegations about iPhone battery issues. And round and round and round... Where she stops, nobody knows!

I have the exact same experience. I find it particularly interesting that this problem is happening just as Apple is introducing two new Iphones. I believe this happened once before when a new model was introduced. I've been an Apple user since the '80's, and I'm a big fan. But, I wouldn't put it past the new corporate atmosphere we are in. Someone had to say it.

It has been horrible. I had replaced a new battery less than a year ago. It was working fine right up to the update 11.0.3. Now in less than 3 hrs usage it drain from a complete charge to 0%.

Apple really needs to do something with a new application and should offer battery replacement to anyone having problems that make a complaint.

I went to Apple for support but they were not pretty sure about 11.0.3 and old iPhones. I changed my iPhone 6 battery with new original batter but my phone kept on draining battery @ 1% in two minutes, I disabled GSM, WIFI, Bluetooth, Location Services, turned off background update, disabled all notification services but status remains the same. What I believe is that 11.0.3 is made for 2GB phones and iPhone 6 having 1GB RAM kept on using swap memory thus consuming battery continuously. The only solution to the problem is seems to be downgrading back to 10.x

I agree that it's a software issue that is causing the battery drain issues. I have an iPhone 7plus that's not even a year old and it had good battery life on. iOS 10.x releases. I updated to iOS 11.0.3 and now my battery is being drained dramatically in a short time. After being off the charger, I'm down to 90% with almost no phone usage, and at the end of the day I'm at 20-30% unless I keep my phone on the charger at work. No particular app is using a lot of power (assuming you trust the Battery Usage stats in Settings). I am not using my phone nor installed any apps differently than when I was on iOS 10.x.

Apple Support on Twitter has offered to "work with me" on trying to resolve the battery drain issue, but I' not sure what they will actually be able to do (I assume they won't send me a private release of iOS with the battery drain issue fixed ;-)

This is frustrating to say the least.

“Apple is currently in the final stages of testing iOS 11.1, and the fifth beta was released the other day, a few days after Apple rolled out what looked like the golden master of iOS 11.1. If you’re a developer or a registered beta tester, you can easily install iOS 11.1 beta 5. And the best thing about it is that it brings massive battery improvements.”

Article claims battery fix came with the 4th beta version. Let us pray.
