Caller ID not working on iPhone after iOS 11

After installing IOS 11 on my iPhone 6s Plus, my caller ID stopped functioning.

All my contacts in my phone remained intact, but it seems as if the contact is not being linked to the number that is calling me. The latest update (11.03) still didn't solve this.

I called my Carrier and they told me that they received a lot of calls with the same issue from customers that updated to IOS 11 and they can not help us out as this is an issue with IOS from Apple as nothing has changed in their system. Are there more people with this issue? And how can this be solved?

Hi, AnthyH!

Thanks for reaching out via the Apple Support Communities. After reading your post, I understand that when receiving a call, you only see phone number. This occurs even if the person calling has a contact in your iPhone. I'm happy to help!

My first recommendation is to make sure that you have installed the latests carrier updates: Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support .

If there are no available carrier updates, or the issue occurs after installing available updates, check to make sure the date and time settings on your iPhone are correct, as detailed in the steps below from Get help with the date and time on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support :

Check your settings

See if you still need help after each step:

  1. Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS.
  2. Turn on Set Automatically1 in Settings > General > Date & Time. This automatically sets your date and time based on your time zone. If there’s an available time-zone update, your device lets you know.
  3. Check that your device shows the correct time zone in Settings > General > Date & Time > Time Zone.

Have a great day!

Then you had better checked the CLIP service status on the network for your number. You can do it by using special codes sent directly from your phone.

To check the CLIP status, go to your Phone application, select the keypad screen, and enter this sequence: *#30# (and then press the green dial button:

User uploaded file

If CLIP service is enabled for you, the network would response as follows:Calling Line Presentation Enabled

User uploaded file

If the CLIP is Disabled, you may try to activate the service for your number. Press Dismiss to return to the Phone application, and press the CLIP activation sequence as follows (the 445850238088 must be replaced by your phone number, along with the country code at the beginning):

User uploaded file

This should activate the CLIP service on the network for you. If the problem still persists, you must contact the Apple support, since in such a case, there is a problem with the device. Good luck.

I have an iPhone 7 plus and I am experiencing the same issue. After update my caller id is not working. I checked to make the caller id button is toggled on to show my caller id. I called my carrier and they said it is not a carrier problem to call Apple Care. I called Apple Care and they have not been able to fix my issue case number 100330615860.

Hi joe_7399,

My iPhone 5S is running on the latest iOS 11.0.3 with enabled 'Show my caller ID', but my caller ID still hidden when I call somebody.
I have tried to reset the network settings and also tried to disable and enable the 'Show my caller ID' option again.
These steps temporarily solved my issue, however after some outgoing calls the issue appears again.

Therefore it is obviously that we are talking about an iOS11 bug.
Apple should fix this as soon as possible.

I have the same issue with Show my caller ID, which is apparently related to the software update (11.0.3 and maybe even earlier). This happens unexpectedly, when travelling across the country or spending some time connected to different base stations, and/or after few outgoing calls. The settings in the phone itself show always that the feature is switched ON, however it obviously does not get this information from the cellular network. The temporary remedy - switching the toggle OFF and ON again. This helps for some time, but Apple just HAS TO RESOLVE this boring issue in the very next iOS upgrade.

Hi AnthyH,

I don't think Apple has anything to do with the caller ID issue. Your carrier said they have changed nothing in their system, could it meant that they have not upgraded their system ? The caller ID problem only exists when we are using DST or PROGRESSIVE sim cars. Try using a sim card from another countries and you will have no issue.
