iweb 3.0.4

HI anyone who can help. I am very ignorant at this, so please forgive my lack of techiness, but my new webhose, ehost, said my site keeps publishing to the wrong folder on their site because on, Iweb on my site publishing page, where I have the site name, they say I need that empty, because it keeps creating a new folder on their site instead of simply publishing to the right folder so that my changes go live immediately, WELL...I keep deleting the site name, but when I go to publish my changes, the site name automatically pops right back in...does anyone know how to permanently delete my site name on the Site publishing page of Iweb without it automatically popping back in?

Yes, that is one of the problems with iWeb 3, because you have direct publishing and if you have direct publishing the way iWeb always publishes is with another folder so that you have the site name.

If you want your site to be uploaded to your host without the folder and site name, it means that you will have to publish your site to your desktop from within iWeb and then upload your site manually using an FTP tool such as Cyberduck. You open Cyberduck and enter all your hosting details and then you need to upload the content of your site folder, but NOT the folder itself to your host so that you don't get the site name. You can then use Cyberduck to connect to your webhost and then delete your old site folder, with all the other files in your main folder and then you will not have this problem.

iWeb is so outdated now though. Is it not about time that you looked for a new website creator? There are lots out there - take a look at EverWeb instead.

The field 'Site name:' should not be a problem as it is automatically generated when you start to give your web page a name.

It's important to set iWeb's Site Publishing Settings right for direct publishing. Especially the 'FTP Server Settings > Directory/Path: xxx/xxx//xxxx' (highlighted in blue in the attached screen dump). Visit your provider's help pages for the correct FTP path or check you personal membership pages for the correct FTP path for web site publishing.
