I forgot my master password on my MacBook Pro. I’m locked out. Can I reset the password?

My Mac ran out of juice and shutdown. Now it’s asking for my master password. I have no clue what it is. How do I reset the password without wiping my Mac?

iPhone 5, Mac OS X (10.7.4), home sharing

1. Turn off your Laptop

2. Turn on your laptop & Hold Command + R

3. Click Utility

4. click Terminal

5. type resetpassword

6. RestPassword popup

7.click Macintosh HD

8. Select the user account

9. Enter your Password

10 Reenter your Password

11Click save

12 login password reset popup show up

13 click ok

14 click apple logo & click shutdown

15 turn on computer

and magic will happen.
