Same here. Playing walking dead no mans land and playing an ad removes the dock Bar. I’ve removed recent apps and stopped rotation lock. I’ve moved all the apps back onto the home screens but I’m left with this :User uploaded file8

What this also means is you can’t swipe the area with the dots, because the OS still thinks there’s a dock bar there. This has only happened since the 11.2 update and is bloody annoying.

Hi Sheilfromflorida,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that the dock and icons have been intermittently disappearing after updating your iPad. I'm happy to help.

Since the issue persists after restarting, reinstall iOS with iTunes. This can resolve possible software issues. When reinstalling iOS, iTunes will completely remove your current software and install a fresh version. While iTunes will try to do this without removing data, it's a good idea to make sure you have a recent backup before trying this step.
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Use the steps in the link below to reinstall iOS with iTunes:
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Please let us know if the issue continues and include any other troubleshooting steps you may have tried.

Have a great day!

I chatted with Apple yesterday and the tech recommended that I “reset all” under “General ->Reset”. I did that and since then I am not having the issue. When you select “Reset All” you get a warning about your Apple Pay card(s) will be removed and all data will stay. This is not exactly correct, you lose all your settings (time, Safari fill in passwords, touch ID, notifications, etc.) It seems to have fixed the issue.

OK, an update. I have done some research and have found the culprit in my case. I was playing a game called "Ultimate Cribbage" and it displays video adverts within the game. I noticed that the issue with the iPad manifested itself after these videos. That, for me, is the good news. For Apple however the bad news is that i was playing the cribbage game without issues until the latest iOS upgrade.

Hmm, interesting. I wasn’t having this issue on 11.0 on a 2nd gen Pro until recently...I did just start using a language-learning app and a game that have full-screen ads. I updated last night to 11.2 and it just happened again a few mins ago after exiting the game (June’s Journey). Might have to stop using these apps for a day or so to test this out and see if any of them are the culprit(s).

Thanks for the suggestion!

It may be that auto rotate plays a part in this but I have launched Ultimate Cribbage played a hand and then exited and immediately on exit the issue with the dock is there (no visible dock). When I rotate to Portrait the dock appears but off centre and cut off. The only solution is to shut down the iPad Pro and reboot it. All is then fine. I have simply stopped playing Ultimate Cribbage!

By the way I have informed Ultimate Cribbage developers but in reality they are probably fairly innocent in this given that their game was OK until the latest iOS update.
