Touch bar shows up on screen?

I don't know when this changed but recently whenever I use my touch bar it shows up on my screen and makes me wait to change something (ex. when I'm trying to change the volume, I have to slide the volume to where I want it and then wait a few seconds for the volume to actually change). How can I change this, it's pretty annoying.
