Apple TV remote battery needs recharged weekly since tvOS 11

My wife and I bough our 4th generation AppleTV almost a year ago. The Siri remote worked great and the battery never seemed to need recharged. As soon as we "upgraded" to the latest tvOS 11, the remote claimed it needed recharged. We thought maybe it was time to recharge it since we'd had it for a while. However, over the last few weeks since, the remote claims to need recharging at least once or twice a week. I can only assume something changed in tvOS 11.
